Clearwater Yacht Club(amended to include trophy list 02/02/2005)
1 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS),
the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing), the
rules of the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) and this Notice Of
Race, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions or any
appendices to the Sailing Instructions.
1.2 The organizing authority is the Clearwater Yacht Club (CYC). The event will be held at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center (CCSC), 1001 Gulf Boulevard, Clearwater.
1.3 The regatta is designated Category C in accordance with RRS Appendix 1, ISAF Regulation 20.
1.4 The 2005 experimental N/A Laser Masters rule regarding the full, radial and 4.7 rigs will be in effect for this regatta. All rigs are eligible to race and will start on the same start line at the same time. Unlimited rig swapping is allowed, provided rig changes are only made ashore. 2 Language
The official language for this regatta will be English.
3 Eligibility and Entry
Members of the ILCA who qualify as "Masters" may enter by completing
registration with the organizing authority.
4 Risk
It is the competitor's decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue
any race. The competitors are ultimately responsible for the risks. The competitor
will accept full responsibility for all his/her actions during any activity
related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and
after the regatta.
5 Schedule of Events
5.1
Saturday, February 19
0800 Registration
0945 Skippers Meeting
1100 First Warning Signal, races to follow
Regatta dinner at the Clearwater YC in the evening.
Sunday, February 20
1045 First Warning Signal, races to follow
Awards to follow ASAP after last race
5.2 No race shall start after 1500 on Sunday.
5.3 Seven (7) races are scheduled, of which a minimum of one race must be completed to constitute a regatta.
6 Advance Registration7 Fees
7.1 Required Fees (checks should be made payable to Clearwater Yacht Club
Youth Sailing):
The entry fee for each skipper is $75 USD with a $10 late fee after February
10th, 2005.
7.2 The entry fee includes lunch for the competitors on each race day, a regatta dinner and regatta souvenir.
8 Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions will be available at the time of on-site registration.
9 Courses & Racing Area
9.1 The race committee will select courses based on conditions.
9.2 The racing area will be the Gulf of Mexico, south of the Clearwater Pass or in Clearwater Harbor, south east of the sailing center.
10 Scoring
The Low Point scoring system, RRS A2 will apply, with ILCA – NA Masters handicaps, except that if fewer than 5
races are completed, all races shall be included in the boats total score.
11 Trophies
The Overall Winner and Top Female awards will be based on the Masters Handicap System described under 10 Scoring. The overall winner's name will also be engraved on the Laser Master Midwinter's East Perpetual Trophy. Age category trophies will also be awarded as follows:
12 Administrative
Competitors will be welcome to arrive at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center
during the afternoon of Friday, February 18th. Competitors wishing to arrive
earlier may be subject to a nominal fee and should make the arrangements directly
with the Clearwater Community Sailing Center.
