Laser Midwinter's East
February 24-27, 2005

Wow. The weather god's really didn't want to cooperate for this regatta. Two races were completed on Thursday and Garry Hufford of Beachmaster Photography was on the water taking pictures. On Friday one race did get started, but that had to be abandoned when the wind shut down completely. Saturday started by looking more promising and one race was completed for both Full rigs and the Radial/4.7 fleets. Then the wind got really squirrelly, two more starts were attempted only to have the wind drop to below 3 knots and those races were abandoned. Sunday, the forecast was dismal with heavy rain and threats of thunderstorms. After a short postponement ashore, the radar didn't indicate any thunderstorm cells close and an attempt was made to race. Before the boats made it to the racing area the first storm cell moved in and it was back to the beach for an early awards ceremony at the sailing center. Amanda Fleming was able to get some on the water pictures Saturday and at the awards ceremony.

The final results after three races were completed.
