2007 Blessing of the Fleet

April 28th, 2007

The ceremonies began at 1100 with the traditional Flag Ceremony and Fleet Chaplain Monsignor Mulligan blessed our boats, applying a liberal application of holy water together with the necessary prayers to help keep our vessels safe for another year. The boats left the dock at 1130 and formed into a parade in front of the Club. After completing a couple of circumnavigation’s of the basin and being reviewed by Commodore Spetz, the firing of the cannon and the piping of a lament signaled the beginning of the Memorial Service. This was dedicated to the memory of members and friends who passed away during the year.
The afternoon was spent relaxing around the Tiki bar and enjoying some very cool rides on an air boat that was appropriately dressed for the occasion.
