Florida Council of Yacht Clubs
Members of Clearwater Yacht Club enjoy all the benefits conveyed through
membership of the Florida Council of Yacht clubs. Our Club is one of the original 13 Charter Members.
Following its inception in 1960, the FCYC was incorporated in July 1961. The focus is on:
• encouraging the sport of yachting,
• emphasizing safety,
• developing reciprocity between members (of which more later), and
• promoting beneficial legislation.
The 13 charter member group has now expanded to 35 clubs in Florida with some
40,000 members and spouses. Below is the list of clubs:
ORANIZATION
Each Club appoints a Director to represent his/her club on the FCYC
board. This establishes good communications both up and down and ensures
that interests and any concerns are addressed at the Board Meetings.
The FCYC Board of Directors consists of all the Club Directors and the FCYC Flag Officers. These
consist of the Commodore, the Vice and Rear Commodore, the Secretary, and the Treasurer.
REPROCITY
Of great interest and value to Clearwater Yacht Club members are the
reciprocal privileges with the 35 private yacht clubs throughout Florida.
Members in good standing are entitled to use all the amenities at each
and every club, including free first night dockage. The charge billing
for all expenditures is sent directly back to the members' club. The
FCYC publishes an excellent cruising guide containing useful information
on each club entitled "The Guide to the Club by Land and Water".
Bear this in mind, you don’t need a boat to enjoy reciprocal benefits
at other member Clubs.
Many Clubs now also have their own Web sites that give pictures and details of their facilities.
WORLDWIDE CRUISES
FCYC sponsors cruises at exceptionally low rates to a number of wonderful
destinations. For example, European tours have included locations as
far South as the Azores and the Canary Islands; as far East as Greece
and Italy; and as far North as England to Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Hawaii, Bermuda, and the Panama Canal have been included too, and in
2003 the cruise was to exotic destinations in the South Pacific area
including Tahiti and the Society Islands.
Membership of Clearwater Yacht Club brings the benefits of reciprocals with all members of the
FCYC so take advantage, because you won't be disappointed.
Remember, you don't have to own a boat to enjoy the FCYC reciprocal benefits. You just have
to be a member of the Clearwater Yacht Club!
