UPARC FUN DAY

DON’T MISS THIS ONE – ITS FUNTASTIC!!!

In 2003 Clearwater Yacht Club celebrated the 10th annual UPARC FUN DAY. This very special day is CYC’s opportunity to give back to our community. CYC members join in as we entertain the UPARC citizens with food, fun, swimming, clowning, music, dancing and boat rides.

Each year this event gets bigger and better. Ten years ago, we started with 15 to 20 UPARC clients. We now host over 120 UPARC clients with 40 CYC members volunteering to participate. It is not only fun for the clients, but for the CYC members.

There is great joy in participating in this event. Joy in the smiles on the faces of the UPARC clients as they put on their new UPARC FUN DAY T-shirts that they are given as they arrive. Many have attended every year and look forward to coming back again. A big portion of that joy is in reuniting with many of the UPARC clients that the club has come to know and love from past FUN DAYS as well as a chance to welcome new acquaintances.

Each year we present donations from CYC members to UPARC. Over the past 10 years CYC members have donated an accumulated total of over $75,000.

UPARC FUN DAY T-shirts are sold at the club to members. The shirts are designed each year by a UPARC client and are unique. The sales of the T-shirts offset the cost of giving each client a shirt. Members can buy one for themselves or their family and/or donate some shirts to be given to the UPARC clients.

This wonderful event is hosted by Tom and Beverly Brewer. They will happily get you involved in this day either decorating for the event, or distributing T-shirts and name-tags or just generally helping out. This is one of the most rewarding days at the club.
